The evaluation will be tailored to answer specific questions about your child’s academic, emotional and behavioral functioning.
Common reasons parents seek a psychological assessment include:
-
Identifying diagnoses that could impact your child’s ability to learn and get along with others (e.g., a learning disability, autism, ADHD, executive functioning difficulties, depression, or an anxiety disorder)

-
Assessing your child’s eligibility for gifted and talented programming

-
Determining cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses and understanding your child's learning styles to inform decisions regarding school placement and academic planning

-
Understanding why your child is demonstrating challenging behaviors and emotions at home or at school

-
Determining the intensity of services needed for your child to succeed and providing specific, useful recommendations to treatment providers and school staff

-
Providing documentation to support learning plans at your child's school (e.g., IEP documentation) and documentation necessary for standardized testing accommodations (e.g., the SAT).

The Testing Process:
-
Testing begins with parents (and, when applicable - the child, teachers and/or therapists) completing questionnaires and a clinical interview with me to understand your child's strengths and areas of difficulty

-
After meeting with parents, I complete a tailored testing battery with your child either in the office setting or in your home (total time of testing is typically 2-6 hours, depending on the nature of the referral questions)

-
After the report is finished, I complete a comprehensive feedback meeting with you and your child (if appropriate) to discuss the testing results and detailed written report is provided

-
If you desire, testing feedback can also be shared with important individuals in the child's life (e.g., school staff, therapist)
