Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

I am delighted to be a certified therapist in the specialty, Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). PCIT is a strength-based treatment program designed for parents and their children (ages 2 to 7 years old) who are experiencing social, behavioral, or emotional difficulties. I love that PCIT builds on the positives in your communication and interactions with your child. The magic of PCIT is that it can be delivered in-home, in-office or via video sessions (or a combination of those modes), tailored to your family’s needs. PCIT therapy completion can take approximately 14-18 weeks. I am happy to offer a free consultation to see if PCIT is a good fit for your family!

PCIT is a well-researched mode of therapy and has been found to be helpful with the following:

-Frequent temper tantrums

-Defiance or refusing to follow directions

-Verbal and/or physical aggression

-Destruction of toys and/or family belongings

-Sassing adults

-Constantly seeking attention

-Hyperactivity/attention span concerns

-Difficulty with behaviors at school, preschool, and/or daycare

Benefits of PCIT:

-Increased feelings of security, safety, and attachment with caregivers

-Increased attention span

-Increased pro-social behaviors (sharing, taking turns)

-Improved behavior at home, and in public

-Increased caregiver confidence

-Decreased caregiver stress
